One Voice: Give the People What They Want

October 2008 By Maureen Jenson
As I returned from this year’s CEDIA EXPO I thought about all of the great conversations I had and components and systems I saw, and I was reminded of why we all strive so hard in this business. Not only is it the need to succeed and of course make money, but also the fact that every day we have the opportunity to go that extra mile to get satisfaction from a job well-done, no matter what position we hold in the custom integration channel.

This is apparent on the pages of CustomRetailer Magazine this month. The EXC!TE Award winner manufacturers are commended for designing and implementing products that we believe will be a hit with custom integrators and their clients alike. Excellent design in componentry is moving forward and according to Bill Anderson of Genesis Audio & Video of Irvine, Calif., the entire industry is migrating upwards and custom integration is becoming more akin to “Custom Art”. For more of Bill’s comments and to see what others thought of CEDIA EXPO this year, please turn to “CEDIA EXPO: You Said It!” On page 46.

The luxury market is very important for the readers of CustomRetailer, of course we understand this and would like your thoughts on selling luxury in an increasingly fragmented market. Please read and take Elly Valas’ Strategy Coach Luxury Survey this month.

If you don’t see the Zoomerang survey in your e-mail box, you may fill it out online at www.customretailer.net/survey/, or fill in your answers and send this page to : CustomRetailer, ATTN: Stephanie Adamow, managing editor, 1500 Spring Garden Street, Philadelphia, PA 19130.

When it comes to the luxury market, in the words of Janet Reents of Electrolux at this year’s Nationwide PrimeTime event in Las Vegas: “Don’t be discouraged about trying to sell a premium product in today’s market. People will fall in love with an exciting product and find a way to get it!”
