The entire suite, originally headquarters for sister brand Sooloos before it was refurbished, will also serve as Meridian’s U.S. sales and marketing hub, while the company will maintain its operational facility in Georgia, said Meridian CEO Peter Wellikoff at the opening.
“New York City is where many of the decorators and designers are,” he said, “but the facility will be used to provide sales and marketing support for New York dealers and beyond, as a place where they can bring high-profile clients to see Meridian and Sooloos products. Meridian holds great appeal for hard-core audiophiles. However, there is a growing percentage of affluent individuals who are looking for the best of the best, but refuse to walk into a traditional retailer for a demonstration. This gives those individuals the ability to come in at their convenience, away from the crowd, and spend as much time as they want with a system.”
Wellikoff said there are plans afoot to expand the facility in July, and then to replicate what is now in New York on the West Coast.
Among new products the company will introduce next month is the Meridian Sooloos Control 15 media server system, boasting a half-terabyte hard drive. Also being released is an iPad application, which Wellikoff said will take the company’s current iPhone app “to another level.”
At CEDIA Expo, line expansions in both Meridian and Sooloos product offerings will include two major audio-driven products: one on the electronics side and one on the speaker side, which will “lower the entry barrier in price to owning a Meridian Sooloos system,” he said.
