Harman Drops Distributors
January 4, 2010The company will now rely exclusively on direct-to-retail partnerships and no longer use independent distributors. The new model went into effect Jan. 1.
“This new strategy will assist Harman to build its world-class brand portfolio and reputation for quality audio products,” James Foster, general manager of Harman Consumer Division Americas Region, said in a statement. “It will dramatically shape our retail footprint so that consumers are delivered a world-class shopping experience and our retail partners realize improved business results.”
Harman also announced that it has named Lyle Smith, formerly of Klipsch Group, its director of sales for the Western Region, and Todd Bogart director of sales for the Eastern Region.
