According to AppleInsider the upgrades, which bring the hardware and software to Apple TV 2.4 and Remote 1.3, respectively, add a new Control button that provide a new way of navigating Apple TV from an iPhone or iPod Touch.
The software also adds By Genre, By Movie and Unwatched to viewing options, while also adding a Flickr search function.
