After producing over 40 projectors in the last 20 years and continuing to upgrade its technology with each projector, SIM2 believes they’ve finally hit a home run this year at CEDIA. One of the main goals of SIM2’s demo of the C3X LUMIS  this year at the show was to show off its impressive DynamicBlack Technology Enhanced Solution and they succeeded.

Sporting a new dimmable 280-watt lamp and a 35,000:1 contrast ratio, this 3-chip Full HD DLP-based home theater projector certainly packs a punch.

The DynamicBlack Technology makes it possible for the LUMIS to produce images that contain the maximum amount of detail possible in dark scenes without compromising black level or the dynamic range available from DLP technology. DynamicBlack automatically adjusts the dynamic iris position to the picture content with microsecond precision, extending the depth of black level and providing richer detail in dark scenes.

In addition to this DynamicBlack technology, SIM2 also promoted its new ALPHAPATH Light Engine which includes:

- New Die-cast aluminum body for improved heat management

- New tapered rod-integrator for greater image uniformity

- New Coatings on the prism assembly to further enhance color performance

The Grand Cinema MICO 50 is based on 3LED lighting and a 0.95” DarkChip4 1080p DLP chipset from Texas Instruments offering uncompressed 1,920 x 1,080 resolution. It incorporates three individual high power Phlatlight LEDs allowing the projector to deliver clearer, brighter and more vibrant images, a more consistent color gamut and Full-On/Full-Off contrast up to 100,000:1.

The MSRP for the LUMIS is $36,000 and is available now, while the MSRP for the MICO 50 is $25,000 and will be available in late November.
